Our HistoryWelcome Home, Inc. was founded in 1992 by a group of Vietnam Veterans who were alarmed by the increasing number of their
comrades-in-arms sleeping on the streets. These Veterans pooled their resources and purchased a building to shelter homeless Veterans. In the years since its establishment, Welcome Home, Inc. has evolved from simply a shelter into a transitional living facility committed to providing emergency food and clothing, a clean, stable living environment, case management, and advocacy to disadvantaged and displaced Veterans. Our organization is based on the belief that no Veteran who has served our country should be without a Welcome Home of their own. Just as we leave no one behind on the battlefield, we should leave no one to sleep in the streets. All of the Veterans that reside at Welcome Home, Inc. struggle with physical and/or mental disabilities coupled with chronic instability in employment and housing. Many of them are filing for VA Disability or Social Security Disability and are awaiting determinations, which can exceed 2 years! Our ability to provide comprehensive wrap-around services to homeless Veterans, and the dedicated leadership of our all Veteran Board of Directors sets us apart from other community service providers. |
